Iqra is built on a simple principle: your data belongs to you. No ads, no data selling, no tracking beyond what's strictly needed to improve the app.

Who we are
Iqra — Al Quran is an independent mobile application available on Android. For any privacy-related question, contact us at altessimmo@gmail.com.

What we never collect
- Your location — GPS or IP-based
- Your contacts or address book
- Your camera or microphone (recording is explicitly blocked)
- Advertising identifiers — there are no ads
- Financial or payment information
- Individual verse listening logs
Data on your device only
In Guest mode, all your data stays on your device and is never transmitted to any server:
- Reciter preference, playback settings, app language, translation choice
- Bookmarks and reading progress
- Daily activity counters, streak, Hifz review state
Cloud data — signed-in accounts only
If you create an account, the following is stored on our Supabase database (EU region) to enable cross-device sync:
- Email address and username
- Reading progress, bookmarks, daily activity totals
- Hifz review results, goal settings
Legal basis: contract performance and legitimate interest.
Anonymous analytics — PostHog
Iqra uses PostHog (EU servers) for anonymous product analytics to improve the app. What is sent:
- A randomly generated anonymous device ID — not linked to your identity
- App language, translation language, selected reciter, approximate country
- Behavioural events: app opened, onboarding completed, account created
Your email address is never sent to PostHog. No advertising or profiling of any kind.
Crash reporting — Sentry
Sentry (EU region) receives technical crash reports only: error stack trace, device OS version, app version. No personal data or Quran content is ever included.
Audio & Mushaf content
Audio is streamed from EveryAyah.com and audio.qurancdn.com. Mushaf pages are served from Cloudflare R2. These services may log standard server data (IP address, timestamp) per their own policies. Iqra does not share user profiles with them. Audio files may be cached locally on your device for offline use.
Notifications
Daily goal and Hifz review reminders are local notifications processed entirely on-device. No data is sent to any server.

Children
Iqra is not directed at children under 13. Contact us at altessimmo@gmail.com if you believe a child has provided personal data.
Changes to this policy
The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects any changes. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
